A unified web portal so teams could manage leads, inventory, and offers with shared context and clearer prioritization.
TrueCar's revenue is driven by lead referrals to dealers. Our web portal served as the single destination for dealers to manage all aspects of their TrueCar relationship and facilitate deals, a conglomeration of vertical tools under one umbrella, much like Google Apps for business.
The core flow connected a CRM on one side with inventory management on the other, ultimately matching inventory to customers. The primary job-to-be-done across all verticals: create offers for customers.
The Design Focus
Offers could be created from multiple contexts, finding a car for a customer, or finding a customer for a car. The new portal I designed focused on:
- Capturing different flow entry points while keeping deal context visible
- Centralizing deal funnels for entire teams to share
- Improving prioritization and sales strategy at an individual customer level
Lead Management
The main customer management experience, designed as a web companion to the mobile app.

Customer search, which also allowed reverse lookup, starting with a make and model to find matching customers.

Prioritization & Matching
A surface to help dealers understand prioritization, determined by customer funnel stage and propensity to meet customer needs based on configuration and available inventory.

System match recommendations based on customer configurations and available inventory.

When no high match existed, dealers could search their inventory while referencing the customer's original configuration side-by-side.

Offer Creation & Customer Journey
A preview showing dealers exactly what their customer would see in the offer they were about to send.

Customer status and sales journey, previously unavailable, this provided concise context to help inform sales strategy with each individual customer. Teams could work more effectively together through decentralized visibility.

Inventory-First Flow
Inventory management leveraging the same patterns and data constructs as the CRM experience, but through the lens of inventory-first.

When entering through inventory, the reverse-lookup experience helped find a customer for a car, especially useful when dealers were prioritizing specific vehicles for business reasons.
